It looks like I have run out of time for the making of any more baubles because the event rapidly approaching is our Christmas Art Fair – on Friday in fact they will have to be ready for sale, and a few people have got in quick and emailed me for some, too. I have two Christmas events coming up, one weekend after another: Christmas at Spring Farm – 30th November to 2nd December Christmas fair at Ilminster Arts Centre – Saturday 8th December (see the exhibitions page on my website for more info and opening times) So I though…

Medusa, and how the rain got personal…
I printed another Medusa etching for the 2014 calendar series yesterday. I am not attempting these in any particular order, merely drawing them and creating the etching plates as they occur to me. After March (spring seedlings, or snakelings as it happens), will come April Showers. Showers are of course traditionally what we get in April, even though the weather does its own thing regardless of tradition. Nonetheless this was a suitable one to be printing yesterday, as it rained, and rained, and had done so all the previous night too: Etching is, as I may have mentioned, unpredictable, and…
Medusa, and the pumpkins on my front wall
Another sketch for the 2014 Medusa calendar. For October, obviously… I like the idea that, because one cannot look at Medusa’s face without turning to stone, it is safer to look at her with a frightful pumpkin-head instead. But then, it seemed a better contrast, since she is apparently scary, to have her surrounded by frightful pumpkin heads, and her holding the only smiling one. If that makes sense. And if it doesn’t, probably the rest of my pictures won’t either… The picture does in fact look very like the front of my house at present! This was the wall…
The 2013 calendar… the final pictures.
Somebody said that I had not actually stated on my website that I have the calendars, here, and ready to sell, which is something of an omission! So, it seems long overdue that I mention them one more time, and I have posted all of the images as they appear in my lovely satin-finish calendars… see below. Meanwhile, I believe I have contacted or attempted to contact everyone who so far said they would like one (or several), but some people are being elusive, so if you’ve not got back to me and confirmed you’d like one, please let me…
Two more Medusa plates
I am progressing with the Medusa Etchings for the 2014 calendar, but I have not printed any this week, only worked on the plates, so I thought I would show the plates to you, in case you thought I had been sitting on my hands, or something… The photo above and below are the same two plates, in different light. I tried photograph them so you could see what was going on, and only one type of lighting has worked with each plate, but maybe it gives an impression of the real look and feel of these pieces of aluminium…
The Devil’s in my Baubles 2
Just a quick post, as I take a break from etching stuff (of which more later). Some more progress on the baubles: These of course are a couple of new pictures prior to baubling – I reckon to re-draw each original design around five times, with a few colour variations where possible, so as to have enough variety and at the same time so as to not take absolutley forever on each bauble. The gold ones will, however, be a rarity. They were originally done for a good friend who is very, very particular about her Christmas tree decorations and…
Medusa and the Plums
I have finished the second of my Medusa etchings: ‘Medusa and the Plums’… for those of you who don’t know, this is actually for my planned 2014 calendar. Meanwhile, I have also taken delivery of the 2013 calendars! And, so that you can see what they properly look like with all the dates and stuff, I will be posting images of the calendar pages very soon – something I have been meaning to get round to for ages but haven’t. For now, though, I have been printing all day, and my wrist seems to need a serious rest, so I’m…
Musings… and my new greetings cards
It is true that this is in the way of a piece of blatant marketing, but what the hell, I spend a lot of time on this blog telling people how to paint as well, and so on… So I wanted to draw your attention to the fact that I have actually gone and ordered a little range of rather nice, rather large greetings cards. I am very pleased with them 🙂 They’re A5 – twice as big as my cards usually are, and here they are: They shall be appearing on the website for sale, but, like all things…
Back to School
I have come back from holiday so most of today has been catching up and paperwork. I did, however, manage another greetings card of the Spelling Animals, on account of another niece’s birthday: I am not sure that Snakes and Ladders aren’t a little too easy, thought I have to admit, I probably should have put the curve of the capital ‘T’ snake the other way round as it is in danger of becoming a ‘J’. Perhaps Spelling Cats suited me better – they were more of a challenge. However I am half way through the nieces and nephews for…
