From last week it became the year of the octopus. The New Year happens when, having gone through all of the nieces and nephew’s birthdays with one sort of Spelling Animal, I have to start again with a new creature.
This year the powers that be have decreed that it shall be the year of the octopus, so I have been busily training a hand-picked and highly skilled set of octopi to perform this extraordinary task. They do their job extremely well, the only problem is that they cannot agree on what they are called. Are they octopuses, octopi, or octopodes? It is a novel problem.
Having trained up my octopi, octopodes or octopuses, they will of course perform for money if you are not one of my small relations – see my etsy listings for a growing range of Spelling Animal: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/nancyfarmer?section_id=14832823. For inspiration, I have to thank a previous customer who asked if I could spell his wife’s name in octopi earlier this year. She is the ‘Jill’ who started it all…
It looks a bit like yoga for octopuses (I don’t like octopi, sounds like an eight sided pastry..) 🙂
Hahaha, yes it does now I think of it. I was brought up on octopi, though (not literally, of course)
I regret, my daughter turns out to have definite views on white rats, skanky or sweet, as she is spooked by their red eyes. I will discuss cute seafood with her instead.
LOL, ok that’s fine! Cats any good perhaps? or lizards?
The octopi are delightful, what a nice auntie.
Thank you! I try to be a nice auntie 🙂
I love the way they are looking at each other, and the beach balls are a droll addition.
Thank you 🙂
I think these are just great, so whimsical, delicate and humorous!
Thank you! 🙂
