This year I shall have a stand in the Marquee at Clevedon Tides Festival 19th – 20th September, where I will have prints on display and for sale. In-keeping with the setting, some of these are likely to be my swimming-related drawings, and a shoal of mermaids would seem appropriate too.
Clevedon Sea Front, the Salthouse Fields and Clevedon marine Lake.
(both the lake and the Fields are at the opposite end of the seafront from the Pier)
19th – 20th September 2015
I will not be there on the Friday – that is a schools event.
I don’t have the opening times of the marquee stands yet, for actual times of various events please see the description below. I will add more information here when I have it.
About Clevedon Tides Festival and Marlens:
Clevedon Tides Festival, supporting Marlens Charity, is an event for everyone to celebrate Clevedon, with a live music stage and family fun. The Marlens charity (Marine Lake Enthusiasts) exists to restore and maintain Clevedon’s heritage marine lake & the adjoining Salthouse Fields for future generations.
Admission is free – Over 7,000 visitors last year.
Friday is “Schools Day” when local schoolchildren are invited to sample a range of activities:
On the lake, rafting, canoeing, sailing, gigging, paddle boards and “zorbing” plus making and sailing a model boat, and on the field, a climbing wall, football skills and dance fitness.
Saturday and Sunday there will be bouncy castles and slides, children’s gym, climbing wall, classic and vintage vehicles. On the lake there will be have-a-go for young and old at sailing, canoeing, zorbing, and driving radio-controlled model boats, plus demonstrations of model powerboat racing.
There will be contributions from local artists, along the seafront and in the marquee. Clevedon Community Bookshop and our Community Curzon Cinema and Arts Centre will both be contributing events.
Saturday (10am-10pm) and Sunday (12pm-6pm) continue with music, dance, displays and attractions. Traders set up stalls around the arena for the daytime.
On Saturday afternoon there will be “It’s a Family knock-out”, dance routines and our new exciting PUSHBALL competition plus other arena displays. Fireworks are set alight over the Marine Lake as soon as it gets dark, followed by more music until 10pm. A collection for MARLENS is held during the evening.
On Sunday there is a Raft Race on the lake and a Tug of War between local teams.
