I shall be taking part once more in Somerset Arts weeks (now Somerset Open Studios) “The Somerset landscape teems with humour and mischief in Nancy’s imagination: Cider Apple Fairies cavort overhead, tiny Ditch Dragons hunt worms by the roadside, Rhyne Maidens inhabit drainage ditches to the great annoyance of swans. Enjoy pictures and landscape together: there is room for a picnic in the garden.” Opening times: Wednesdays – Sundays, 11am – 5pm, 17th September – 2nd October Exhibition Soirée: 3 – 6pm, 17th Sept. On the first Saturday I shall be staying open a little later and we shall have…

‘Hidden Depths’ at the Curzon Cinema, Clevedon, July 2016
An exhibition of art inspired by The Marine Lake at Clevedon I love the Marine Lake, it’s very special, and it’s the place where I first seriously got into open water swimming. From this sprang a spontaneous series of drawings about the nature of swimming outside, and so I’m delighted to have been asked to display some of these as part of an exhibition celebrating the Marine Lake. I’ve swum there for hours in the summer, and braved its icy waters in the winter; the lake and its visitors have been an engaging year-round subject. I shall be exhibiting alongside…
Christmas at Moorlinch: 4th, 5th & 6th December.
My studio will be once again open to visitors for the first weekend of December. Along with calendars, cards, prints and originals, plus a few coasters and decorated candles, I shall now have colouring books! I have created a little group of 7 paper angel designs (though two are devils and one is a fairy) that you can either buy as colouring-in books, or ready-coloured and printed on shimmery card, which you can cut up and make at home. If you would like to buy these, and also calendars & cards, outside of this weekend, please email me, or have…
Somerset Arts Weeks exhibition, on until 18th October
Somerset Arts Weeks is in full swing, come and see my exhibition while you still can! It’s on until 18th October (note: closed Monday & Tuesday). Here are a few photos of it. Details of where etc in this post.
Solo exhibition at Ilminster, July 2016
“A Westcountry Bestiary” Dates: July 4th – July 30th Venue: Ilminster Arts Centre, http://www.themeetinghouse.org.uk/ East Street, Ilminster, TA19 0AN Open: Mon – Fri 9.30am to 4.30pm, Sat 9.30am to 2.30pm (please note exhibition ends at 2pm on the last Saturday) The theme of this exhibition was the collection of fanciful and mythical creatures which may, or may not, inhabit Somerset. I have now put quite a lot of the pictures up on this site under ‘Finished Artwork’ and ‘A Westcountry Bestiary’, where you can see them in more detail than below. “Some centuries before the Encyclopaedia, there was the Bestiary,…
Clevedon Tides Festival 19th – 20th September 2015
This year I shall have a stand in the Marquee at Clevedon Tides Festival 19th – 20th September, where I will have prints on display and for sale. In-keeping with the setting, some of these are likely to be my swimming-related drawings, and a shoal of mermaids would seem appropriate too. Venue: Clevedon Sea Front, the Salthouse Fields and Clevedon marine Lake. (both the lake and the Fields are at the opposite end of the seafront from the Pier) Dates: 19th – 20th September 2015 I will not be there on the Friday – that is a schools event. I…
“Theatre of the Soul” – an exhibition at Bridport Arts Centre
I’ve been invited to take part in an exhibition in Bridport Arts Centre, 17th Jan – 28th Feb. Here is the poster, with my ‘Murder of Crows’ painting a part of it. I really like the images by the other artists, this promises to be a fascinating show! For more details see my exhibitions page: https://nancyfarmer.wordpress.com/future-exhibitions/
Somerset Arts Weeks 2014
Astonishingly mild weather continues and the sun is blazing into the studio, as I crouch on the windowsill to get this shot of all the artwork on display. This is my studio – the gallery-wall side of it anyway, all spruced up and glistening with not an inconsiderable number of square inches of gold leaf, amongst the drawings and paintings. So, if you are going to be nearby in the next fortnight, do come and visit! Details of the exhibition as follows: Dates: 20th September – 5th October 2014 Times: 11am – 6pm every day except Mondays I am very…
Strange Fish at Clevedon Pier 2
The exhibition is up! See my previous post if you want to read the start of that, and my exhibitions page for the venue details and so on. I would have photographed the inside of the gallery, but the light was fading, and it’s never easy to get stunning photos of an empty gallery. So here is the head of the pier itself, with one of my posters. Fear not: for you hydrophobes and sufferers from vertigo, my exhibition is at the dry end, on solid ground…. …and some circling seagulls: Right, that’s one exhibition up and running, one more…
Filth, depravity and a light lunch with coffee
I spent an enjoyable few hours at Ilminster Arts Centre (where I currently have a solo exhibition), in my ‘artist-in-lurking’ capacity. The exhibition is stewarded and I don’t have to be there at all, but I feel it does no harm to spend some time there on hand to talk to people should they wish to. On occasion the mere being there and talking to people has led to sales which I am sure would not have happened without the human connection. People often like to how how it’s done, sometimes even why it’s done (a more difficult question). Which…
