Medusa of The Levels

Watercolour, by Nancy Farmer, 14.4 x 19 inches, 2016

Medusa has been a firm favourite as a subject for me for some years: the femme fatale with a head full of snakes is so adaptable to so many situations. But the ‘Westcountry Bestiary’ demanded a particular Somerset twist, so here is a very much more down-to-earth Medusa of the Somerset Levels, with a head full of worms. Because worms are more important, except to other snakes.
