Perry Pear Fairies

Gouache & coloured pencil, by Nancy Farmer, 13 x 16 inches, 2016

A type of fairy that has been living in Somerset for centuries. Golden-skinned, freckled and curvaceous, these are of course the Perry Pear Fairies. It is spring, and there are no pears on the tree, but last year’s harvest has made a fine Perry.*

*pear cider, more properly called ‘Perry’
