Christmas Sale and Exhibition, at my studio this weekend.

I am busy re-hanging the studio with paintings and angels, ready for an open weekend. Friday 4th – Sunday 6th December. All the details are in this post but I wanted to show you a few pictures of the room taking shape, to remind you to come along! There will be a few special Christmas discounts on some of the pieces of original artwork, as well as cards, calendars, Angels, candles, coasters… and probably some other things.

The Penultimate Paper Angel

The Book of (Paper) Angels, which I’ve been working on for the last couple of weeks, is almost ready to be printed. Here is Angel number 6. I am only waiting now until I have had time to do some coloured-in versions, which will be available as sparkly sheets for those who don’t want to colour in their own angels. For more information on this project, ordering, and a glimpse of angels number 4 and 5 which i didn’t post on the actual blog, have a look at this page: https://nancyfarmer.wordpress.com/portfolio/the-book-of-angels/ I like this angel, he’s a sort of Victorian…

The Tattooist

A Spring Auction

It is a fact that I have too many paintings. The problem is that old pieces never get seen, and so therefore don’t stand a chance of being sold, because I have to keep up the new work for exhibitions. And the cupboard is full! So, here is my cunning plan: I am going to hold a series of seasonal auctions on Ebay, just for one or two ‘vintage’ pieces at a time. Here is my Spring offering. I was originally going to auction The Tattooist, but then 3 Gold Fairies came back from the dead… reappearing when they had…

Mezzotint on Aluminium: a new tool to play with!

I had a search going on Ebay for a Mezzotint Rocker. The search has probably been running for a couple of years and I think only once or twice did it turn up this rather obscure printmaking tool and at full price, which is not cheap. So when one appeared at half price last week, I could not resist… This post is mainly a series of photos of my experiments with mezzotint on a piece of aluminium (copper being the traditional material for this printing technique). If you would like to know more about how mezzotint – a slightly obscure…

drawings for baubles

The Devil’s in my Baubles 2

Just a quick post, as I take a break from etching stuff (of which more later). Some more progress on the baubles: These of course are a couple of new pictures prior to baubling – I reckon to re-draw each original design around five times, with a few colour variations where possible, so as to have enough variety and at the same time so as to not take absolutley forever on each bauble. The gold ones will, however, be a rarity. They were originally done for a good friend who is very, very particular about her Christmas tree decorations and…

The first of this year's batch of baubles

The Devil’s in my Baubles!

I said I didn’t have time to do Christmas baubles this year, but they were fun last year and quite popular and it seemed a great shame not to have them, so at the last minute… Here are some of a delivery of around 95 empty baubles, all ready to be ‘done’: The calendars are at the printers, the Christmas card has been painted and has gone the same way, I have completed a commission, and the first 3 etchings of this term are all underway. At this point, even though I’m actually on holiday, I am feeling pretty efficient…
